Swiss TPH - project implementation

Swiss TPH Project Implementation

The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute has maintained a partnership in research, training and intensive support to health service delivery with Tanzania since 1949. The partnership extends from the Ministry of Health to NGOs, charity organisations to private institutions—always within the context and under the umbrella of the prevailing health policies and strategies. The activities of the Swiss TPH have also included research, support and collaboration in the areas of policy development and health system strengthening.

The Health Promotion and System Strengthening (HPSS) project is another instance of this on going cooperation. The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) asked the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) to design and implement a scalable health promotion project with a systems strengthening dimension for the Dodoma region. The SDC responded with the HPSS project. The time frame for the HPSS project is 2010 – 2020. The mandate to implement the project was extended to the Swiss Centre for International Health (SCIH) at the TPH.
