The symposium will take place during the World Antimicrobial Awareness Week (WAAW) at the Bank of Tanzania (B.O.T) Conference Centre in Dar es Salaam.

The symposium is themed: “Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together” and seeks to achieve the following objectives:

• Creating awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective information, education and communication

• Strengthening the knowledge and evidence base through surveillance and research

• Reducing infection through effective sanitation, hygiene and infection prevention measures

• Optimizing the use of antimicrobial agents in human and animal health
